4 Tips to Help You Become a Productive Blogger

January 29, 2011 by Daniel Sharkov|

Writing Early

Writing Early This week’s article is going to be a guest post by Bojan Djordjevic from Increasing Workplace Productivity. I really enjoyed reading the post, hope you will do too!

In this virtual world, freedom of expression is limitless, but somehow when it comes to blogging, many people find it hard to keep up with frequent writing. In order to write frequently you need to make a habit out of it and your passion.

Many people who are blogging without passion, don’t have that juice that drives readers’ attention. Your enthusiasm can reflect in your words, believe it or not. Blogging isn’t something that you do, it’s something you are.

Your Texts aren’t “Content”

They are unique way of expressing yourself and your world view with the rest of the humankind. It’s there to stay and it’s signed by you, so give your best! When you are writing from your heart it’s something that will bring authenticity to your articles and that alone will help you stand out from the crowd. In the world where copy paste is easy, just being yourself is standing out. Write like the whole world is reading, and eventually it will!

Developing a Writing Habit

So beside passion I will tell you how I got into habit of writing . I like to write my posts first thing in the morning, right after my workout. That’s the time when my energy peaks. I was forcing myself to write for a straight month, before it became a habit. It’s part of my daily routine, it’s something that’s important and is getting me going. There are no distractions early in the morning and you have all peace you need to clear your thoughts and just deliver your ideas on the blank piece of screen. Consistency alone is going to take you a long way. Writing is same as any other skill in the world, if you continually keep doing it, you will get better and better. Just think about it, where you will be 365 articles from now? It’s a long way, but you must enjoy the process.

Focus on Readers NOT Machines

When you are writing I want you to forget about Google. Artist in me says that writing for machines is just going to kill my creativity and you will loose authenticity if you are thinking of keywords. Let yourself flow when you write and let your mind play! Swing words back and fourth, make your articles a piece of art and people will flock to you. Thinking of Google will kill your writing and diminish the human value of your articles, thus making them less authentic. Lower quality of articles equals lower productivity! I encourage you to express yourself without fear that anyone is going to judge you. Give yourself permission to just be yourself and write!

Tools of The Bloggers Trade

Beside assuming the mindset of blogger until you become one there are many different tools that can help you out store your ideas. Often overlooked low tech pieces of technology are pen and paper . These good old reliable tools can explode your creativity when you take notes and draw a mind map. Each time you write a new article, sketch your outline and make a snapshot with your smartphone, so you can keep the digital version also. For sync between your devices, I recommend a free tool, Evernote. It’s perfect bridge between your phone and your computer. Record audio notes, take pictures and syndicate content trough it. It’s great way to save time and create rich blog content “on the go”.

Remember, you are blogger wherever you are. The difference between average and awesome is thinner than ever, only your passion will make you great and for that you need to move away from the realm of doing, into a realm of being, great.
