Do you know what Google Authorship is?

I guess it’s safe to say that most of us marketers and bloggers, even novices, know that we are talking about the small avatar and the link to a Google Plus profile that we see in search results.

Okay, but have you heard of the Author Rank concept?

That’s definitely a term much less of you folks have come across. There’s obviously a connecting between authorship and author rank of course.

In brief, author rank might very soon turn out to be the next big Google ranking factor.

And as the name suggests, we are talking about “humanizing” search and giving authors who share their identity a better chance to rank for competitive search terms. The idea here is simple – to make annonimity a thing of the past. In other words if you want to be taken seriously, both by people and search engines (Google as of now), you need to show your face.

As you probably guessed however, actually benefiting from that future system won’t be as easy as having your photo display next to search results from your site (although that’s the first step).

So what do you need?

You need something to “back it all up”. You need a way of proving that you, your content and your ideas are worth the visitor’s time…

And that is where today’s ANIMATED infographic comes into play!

Created by the Vertical Measuresteam, the infographic I am sharing with you today is all about author rank and some of the “precautions” you can (and should) take in order to really take advantage of that soon-to-come implementation.

Without further ado, feel free to scroll down and enjoy all the moving gears and conveyr belts that aside from the useful information, make this one of the best infographics I’ve come across lately!
